I can't wait to get our my EarthBoxes (the BEST way to grow plants/herbs/flowers when you don't have a big back yard!).......can't wait to get a pot going full of fresh herbs! And flowers, of course, flowers!!!

When it's warm out, my favorite thing to do is just BE OUTSIDE. Whether its early in the morning and I'm watering the flower pots, or its afternoon enjoying a glass of fresh mint tea on the patio, or whetherit in the evening sitting on a blanket watching the stars! I'm happy. :)

What a BEAUTIFUL, refreshing and desirable prize!!!! I hope! I hope! I hope I win!!!! ;)

The first warm day of spring I love to go outside and pull all of the dried, brown tops off of my day lily plants. The little green shoots of new growth that I uncover shout to me, "Spring is here! Hallelujah!"

My very favorite thing to do....go to the ocean, with my husband, my striped lawnchair and my organia Peruvian coffee and watch the waves roll in for the afternoon. Can't beat THAT!!!

Bess said...

When the weather gets warmer, my favorite thing (besides being on the beach, of course!) is to open my windows wide, declutter, and clean out. There's just something about a warm wind and open windows that makes me want to clean like crazy! :)

Jeane` said...

(I realized i was supposed to state something that neglected to do): My very favorite warm-weather thing is simply to enjoy walking barefoot...to hear crickets chirping at night...to smell fresh cut grass and to enjoy a glass of wine with my hubby around our fire pit after the kiddos are down for the night!

AND the original reason for this second comment is to say that I linked this giveaway on my humble blog. ;) So...now i have TWO chances at what I'm sure will be a a very big comment producing giveaway!!!

Opening up all the windows and airing out the house with fresh spring air...
Then leave the house with my husband and go for ice cream somewhere.

So ready for spring!

btw: great choice on the chocolate cookies, they are my favorite from back home :)

One of our favorite things to do in the spring is to take long walks outside and the boys count how many birds they see, and we look for spring buds on the trees! :) Simple, but when the sun is out and the birds are singing, its easy to enjoy anything!

Sarah Gingrich said...

Throw open all the windows in the house, so that the curtains billow and shake free of their winter droop. Usher in the freshness with bouquets in old blue canning jars. Traipsing about in bare feet in the tender new grass. Hanging up the hammock as a challenge to retreating winter, "You go no further, you frosty dear season, make way for Spring in her flouncy dress!"

This is our first spring here in the deep south. Coming from PA, it's so fun to have day after day be in the 70's-80's. We almost live outside. :) Our doors are open most of the time and we're loving having a new garden, eating outside, and getting lots of exercise time with the kids.

Love taking a little one on a walk! Took Mikaela out a few weeks ago and I didn't hear a peep the whole time as she took in everything. I take Grady (even when it's cold because we have to pick up Katie from the bus stop). When it's nice, we walk all around his development and he points out all of the cars, flowers, and dogs. :) Best part of nice weather for this lady! xoxo

I feel I should not be allowed to enter since I was the lucky winner of your last giveaway {and my family is most grateful that I was...we literally fight over who gets to wrap up in the brown blanket. Daily} BUT..I must weigh in because if I talk about Spring then maybe I won't long for it sooo much. My favorite thing is reading on my swing on the back porch. My least favorite thing is thinking about all the leaves that have settled into the flowerbeds. BUT..in order to enjoy the swing fully, I will need to work on the leaves first.
IT CANNOT COME FAST ENOUGH!

Terri said...

OH! And I'll be posting your giveaway over on Shop Girl!!!

Shelby said...

The absolute first thing I do is plant pansies in lots of pots on my front porch and put up my spring wreath. I love being outside..... then I also love grilling everything on the grill:)

I love to walk around Strasburg, take a little extra time getting from one class to the next, or find a quiet shaded spot to write in my jean shorts and tshirt. I'm not a big fan of summer, but spring time, oh it's gorgeous!

Hi Janelle,
My favorite thing to do when it starts getting warm outside is to watch my husband as he turns over the soil in my garden! I love to watch the disk turn that hard calloused soil, making it soft & rich for planting. My fun really begins AFTER this process, when I can apply seeds to that soil, and begin to watch the seeds grow. There is nothing like the feeling I have knowing that I am providing the very best home grown and nutritional foods for my family.
Thanks. Danielle B.

Michelle said...

There are so many things I do when Spring comes but the very first thing I do on the first warm day is to simply walk out the door and around the house to see which plants are budding and which are poking out of the ground and to slowly savor the warmth of sunshine.

I just love to be outside in the fresh air, mowing the grass and digging in the cool, damp flowerbeds. I also can't wait to go barefoot and to not have to bundle the children up to go outside. It's also fun to just be outside and watch the children run around and play.

My favorite thing to do is soak up the sun. Finding things to do outside while I am soaking up the sun is no problem either. But a cup of my favorite coffee and a good book and the sunshine is a perfect combo.

Justin & Elizabeth said...

When it gets warm outside I pull out my Grandmother's red and white vintage table cloth and I take it outside in the grass for a picnic with my two sons. Under the warm sun it's easy to imagine her looking down on us from heaven and smiling at the heart to heart conversations I'm having with my 3 year old because she probably remembers having many with me. In some ways I can't wait to meet her in heaven and be able to share a picnic with her and my boys...

Oh I just LOVE Spring!!! All the flowers poking up their heads, the pink-blossomed trees, spring lambs, baby chicks, the warm(er) breezes through the open windows--I know it's a sickness, but I can't wait until my husband pressure-washes the house so I can wash away all the winter grime from my windows and put in the screens!--swinging on the porch swing, hanging out the laundry again, eating supper on the back deck, longer evenings, sunshine, bike rides. But most of all--EASTER! The newness of life in Christ because of his resurrection with victory over sin and death. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! (And I had three Spring babies--so their birthdays add to my joy of this time of year!)

Spring lightens my heart, as winter fades and the sun starts to peek out and shines more and more I get excited and want to clean my whole house, I love to hang my laundry as see it sofly move in the springbreeze..the smell of freshwashed and outside dried linnens is THE BEST thing...the true joy of spring comes to fulfillment when I can dig in the dirt with my two sons and plant some of "their" plants and flowers and some of mine and watch them grow and bloom over the weeks that follow, fruit of their labor ;)
Blessings,

I can hardly wait to dig in the dirt and plant our garden - the thought of fresh veggies is really exciting to me! the first day of spring usually falls on my dad's birthday...he was born on march 20, 1934. so the very first thing i do is call my dad and sing happy birthday!! my grandmother, his mom, used to say that she brought forth new life on the first day of spring. he was her firstborn and on that spring day, there was snow on the ground...a rarity in north alabama. every year my dad tells us the story of his birth and the snow gets deeper with each passing year. we always say that if he lives long enough the snow will be 10 feet deep:) we are already up to about 6 feet:) so every first day of spring i am so thankful to God for giving me a wonderful dad! and i am truly blessed to still have him with me! thank you Jesus for another spring day with my dad!

I love visiting our local greenhouses and coming home with a load of colorful flowers.
And filling my planters and pots with these beauties for our big wraparound porch!
Planning and planting our vegtable garden!
Watching for new baby lambs in the pastures along road!
Hanging my laundry out to dry in the fresh breeze!
Wow.... so many wonderful things that come with the newness of springtime!!!!
