I'm gonna miss this

"She was starin' out the window of that SUV
Complainin' sayin' I can't wait to turn 18
she said I'll make my own money
and I'll make my own roots
Mama put the car in park out there in front of the school
and she kissed her head and said I was just like you
You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this
Before she knows it she's a brand new bride
In her one bedroom apartment and her daddy stops by
He tells her it's a nice place,
she says it'll do for now
Starts talkin' about babies and buyin' a house
Daddy shakes his face and says
Baby just slow down
Cuz you're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
so take a good look around
You may not know it now
but you're gonna miss this

Five years later there's a plummer workin' on the water heater,
Dogs barkin' phones ringin'
one kid's cryin' one kid's screamin',
And she keeps apologizing,
he says they don't bother me I got 2 babies of my own
one's 36 one's 23 it's hard to believe But you're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times so take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this
You're gonna miss this
Yeah, you're gonna miss this"

Oh how true.... how can my precious oldest boy be 20?!
We need to savor every moment, we never get them back.
Never thought I'd see the day, where you and I would be raising sons side by side!! :-)I am so glad we can share this season together. I love you my dear sister!!!!

So, are you trying to make me cry? Cause it worked!(ok so I actually only teared up...)
Oh- how I NEVER EVER wish these days away- not even on the poopiest, snottiest days. I just squeeze and kiss and savor and smell em up.
love ya girl-

I look back to those years with such sweet nostalgia...

How grateful I am that God always gives us grace for each season we are in, right when we are in it.

Deep in my heart I can say that, while I was an imperfect, sometimes impatient mom to my little ones, I gave it my best shot and I have no regrets.

Knowing that I did the best I knew how back then allows me to enjoy THIS stage of life (my oldest is married, my baby is 14 already!) and to look forward to the days ahead.

And if I need a "baby fix", I awlays have my sisters' babies!!
